Class Description

Hatha Integration brings together the traditions of Iyengar-based alignment, yoga therapeutics and the vinyasa flow energies of Shiva Rea and Anna Forest, all balanced with the heart opening approach of Anusara yoga. This all levels class will encourage you to return to the seat of your own wisdom and power to bring healing, balance and peace to your entire being.

Classes will include hands-on adjustments, vinyasa flow sequencing, traditional asanas including standing poses, back bends, inversions and arm balances.  Music, Sanskrit chants, pranayama and meditation are also included.  Focus is on developing strength, flexibility, stamina, and clarity.

Hatha/Vinyasa Flow is about breath, strength, integrity, &wisdom.  It is about going deeper into the natural connective energies of healing and finding your own vibrant self through a flowing asana sequence, each movement synchronized with the breath.  It is a full body workout which builds strength, flexibility, balance and endurance, through a combination of  both classical and creatively-adapted sun salutations, standing and seated postures, twists and binds, backbends, and inversions such as headstands, handstands and arm balances. This is a heart-based and alignment-tuned practice.

Each class includes hands-on adjustments,  philosophical teachings, uplifting music, pranayama practice, meditation and deep relaxation.  A strong foundation in yoga is recommended, as well as an understanding of your body’s appropriate modifications.

Hip & Back Relief:  Back pain? Hip pain? Creaky Knees?  This is the class for you. Gentle, alignment-based poses designed to strengthen and support these most essential and often abused joints.  Appropriate for all bodies, all levels and for persons recovering from injury, surgery and other trauma. Integrated movements and breathe work will also be a vital part of this therapeutic and restorative class.

Level I Alignment is the perfect class for students with 6 months yoga experience, students who are ready to move up from their introduction/beginners class.  Focus is on developing a greater understanding of the alignment principals of the asanas (postures), as well as increasing strength, flexibility and stamina.  Traditional standing, seated, supine and twisting postures will be presented, as well as an introduction to inversions, and the sun salutations.

  1. I am interested in your “Hip and Back Relief” class, but I don’t see it listed on your Schedule. Is this class still offered?
